D.C. police investigating two slayings

Police are investigating two Monday shooting deaths in the District.

The first shooting happened shortly before 4 a.m. on the 1400 block of Morse Street NE. Police said 28-year-old Keith L. Turner, of Capitol Heights, had suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital, where he died about 45 minutes later.

The second slaying took place on the 1400 block of New Jersey Avenue NW at about 10:15 p.m. Two people were shot, and one, a 15-year-old boy, died at a hospital shortly before 11 p.m. He was identified as District resident Isaiah Harris. The other victim, whose name was not released, survived.

No arrests were made in either case.

In total, three people were killed in the District over the holiday weekend. A man was found slain on Georgia Avenue NW at about 3:25 a.m. Sunday. In Prince George’s County, four people were killed between Friday evening and Monday, including two men shot to death in a double homicide late Monday in Capitol Heights.
