Former Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis said he believes Republican nominee Donald Trump is a “screwball” who is “getting away with murder.”
The Democratic Party’s 1988 nominee for president also told CNN he thinks it’s high time Trump release his tax returns.
“I think we’ve got to start talking about Trump because the guy’s getting away with murder,” Dukakis said. “I mean he’s a screwball. Every day is another —”
“And you don’t think that people have been talking about Donald Trump enough in this campaign?” interrupted a CNN host.
“No and point of fact, take for example the income tax returns,” Dukakis said. “Look this guy has got to produce his income tax returns.”
The former Democratic nominee said its “absolute foolishness” for Trump to claim he cannot release the tax returns at this point under the advice of an attorney. Dukakis added that he thought there must be something in his tax returns that the GOP nominee was attempting to hide.
