Take 5 for Feb. 17 to 19

Junior League at the Rock & Roll Hotel, Friday

It’s been a busy couple of years for Lissy Rosemont, the driving force behind local bluegrass/rock outfit Junior League. In September 2010, she got married, and last October she had a baby.

So forgive her if her music career took a temporary backseat.

“It sort of settled me down,” said Rosemont of the effect getting married and having a child have had on her. “You get older and want something else.”

Junior’s League’s last full-length album, “Jelly Roll,” came out in the summer of 2010, and the band’s last local show was last August at the 9:30 Club when she was eight months pregnant.

Rosemont considered the last few months a welcomed break from dealing with booking shows. Not that having a child is time off.

“I liked having a break,” she said. “I have my hands full, but it was nice having that break.”

Rosemont has written a few songs, but has no immediate plans to release new music.

This March marks Junior League’s fifth anniversary. Rosemont has learned a lot these last five years when it comes to creating music, and the music business.

“I’ve learned a lot of lessons just cutting my teeth,” she said.
