Brad Paisley joins senators on bleak tour of West Virginia towns hit by floods

Country singer Brad Paisley popped up in his homestate of West Virginia on Thursday to serve residents affected by the devastating floods that killed 23 people and devoured 1,200 homes last week.

Nonprofit group Save the Children led Paisley and U.S. senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito on a tour of the hardest-hit towns.

“The towns and schools we’ve visited today have been devastated by these floods. I pledge to do all I can to help my fellow West Virginians and have set up a GoFundMe account so others can join me,” Paisley said in a statement.

The famous country star dropped $100,000 into the crowdfunding account Thursday.

Save the Children dispersed blankets, pop-up cribs and car seats to families. Sen. Manchin said the level of destruction he saw was “hard to put into words.”

“I am grateful to Save the Children for their long-term work helping our children succeed in school and for being on the front-lines today, helping vulnerable children and families in the wake of such terrible flooding,” Manchin said.
