The Alexandria man accused of inappropriately fondling a 3-year old Fairfax County girl was previously convicted six times on sex crimes, according to the Virginia sex offender database.

Bryan Goodwin, a 49-year old groundskeeper at All Nations Church of God in Alexandria, is being held without bail on charges of aggravated sexual battery of a minor. The victim told her mother, who also worked at All Nations, and the mother reported the incident to Alexandria police.

Goodwin’s first sex crime conviction came in 1976 for forcible sodomy.

He faced three additional forcible sodomy charges in 1978, and was charged with aggravated sexual battery in 1984. His most recent conviction was in 1989 for attempted aggravated sexual battery.

All of the convictions except for the 1984 case came in Fairfax County. The 1984 conviction occurred in Alexandria.

Calls to All Nations church were not returned.

The church is on the 5200 block of Filmore Avenue.

Goodwin’s address in the sex offender registry is right next door to the church.

According to Alexandria police spokesman Capt. John Crawford, the mother of the victim knew Goodwin had a history of sex crimes.
