White House press secretary Josh Earnest addressed security concerns after Wednesday night’s fence jumping.
“If there are additional steps that can be taken to improve the security posture at the White House to more effectively repel individuals who might be seeking to jump the fence then that’s certainly something that will be considered,” Earnest told reporters at the White House on Thursday.
Earnest said there needs to be a balance between protecting the first family and still allowing tourists to go in and out of the White House daily.
The Secret Service was praised in their quick take-down of the perpetrator as compared to the incident in September, where the intruder got a few rooms deep into the White House.
“I do think it would be fair for anyone to conclude that the results of last night’s efforts were better than the results that related to the incident that occurred last month here,” Earnest said.
