CHICAGO (AP) — A man dubbed the “no boundaries bandit” and suspected of robbing at least 13 banks in the Chicago area has been charged in U.S. District Court in the robbery of a bank on the city’s southwest side.
The FBI announced that Rodrigo Medellin of New Lenox is charged with one felony count of bank robbery for the alleged June 11 robbery of Washington Federal Bank in Chicago. The 31-year-old Medellin is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
In addition to the June 11 robbery, the FBI says Medellin is suspected in at least 12 other robberies since May 16, the most recent occurring Aug. 28 in Berwyn.
Medellin was arrested Sunday by Cicero police following a short car and foot chase. Authorities say Medellin had a gun in his possession.
