Kentucky woman indicted on sex trafficking charges

A Kentucky woman was indicted on sex trafficking charges in federal court Wednesday.

According to a Thursday news release from the Justice Department, Cleoretta Allen, 41, was indicted on two counts of sex trafficking and one count of interstate transportation for prostitution. Federal prosecutors allege that in 2017 Allen used force, fraud, and coercion to push two women into engaging in commercial sex acts.

Allen is also alleged to have taken the same two women to Georgia to engage in prostitution. If Allen is found guilty of the sex trafficking charges, she faces a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison with a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine. She also faces a maximum of 10 years in prison for the interstate transportation for prostitution charge.

The indictment doesn’t detail how Allen came to traffic the two women and doesn’t include much more detail about the alleged sex trafficking operation or whether the trafficking was done in coordination with others.
