Architects selected for Obama’s presidential ‘center’

The Obama Foundation on Thursday selected an architecture firm to design President Obama’s future presidential library, which the foundation is calling a “center.”

Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects Partners and Interactive Design Architects won the contract to lead the project slated for construction on the south side of Obama’s adopted hometown of Chicago.

“The center will include a library holding the presidential archives, a museum focusing on the Obama presidency and issues of our time and space for programs and initiatives that advance the foundation’s public mission,” the foundation stated.

Two specific south side sites are under consideration: Jackson Park, near Lake Michigan, and Lincoln Park, near the University of Chicago where Obama taught.
