Two 17-year-olds are “traumatized” after being kidnapped from a Timonium light-rail station, attacked and left in South Baltimore’s Cherry Hill neighborhood, police said.
“These are two kids who are extremely traumatized,” Cpl. Mike Hill, a Baltimore County police spokesman, said at a Monday news conference. “… This information is extremely sensitive. Remember that we’re dealing with two teenagers here and the horror they went through.”
The attack occurred about 9 p.m. Friday on the 9400 block of Deereco Road.
The two teens — one boy and one girl — were sitting in a car in the parking lot of the station, when two males, each about 20 years old, approached them and tapped on the car’s window, Hill said.
The two men walked away, but then returned with handguns and forced themselves into the car, police said. The girl was made to sit in the backseat of the car, according to Hill.
“They carjacked this male and female, drove them around locations in Baltimore County and Baltimore City and eventually dropped them off in the Cherry Hill neighborhood in Baltimore City,” Hill said. “We know that a sexual assault did occur to the female during this time.”
The teens, both from Baltimore County, began to run, and flagged down a Baltimore police officer.
“They’re not familiar with that area whatsoever,” Hill said.
The city police officer took them to the local police station and contacted county police.
The male victim suffered “minor injuries” that did not require treatment, but the female was taken to Greater Baltimore Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
Baltimore police found the vehicle Saturday afternoon, although they would not disclose the exact location. Detectives are now on the lookout for the two assailants.
Hill said police are investigating other crimes that the culprits might have committed. He said police believe the two teenage victims told them the truth about the attack.
“They are very certain what [the teens] are saying did occur,” Hill said.
