Man arrested after hacking into Walmart employee with machete: Police

An Indiana man was arrested Tuesday after he lured a Walmart employee to him outside the store and hacked into him with a machete, authorities said.

The incident occurred at an Elkhart, Indiana, Walmart, where police responded to a reported knife attack around 8:30 a.m., according to a report.

Lincoln Leuchtner, 25, entered the Walmart, took a machete, placed the weapon into his backpack, and left, authorities said.

After leaving the store, Leuchtner called out to a nearby employee, the report noted.

Once the employee reached Leuchtner, the 25-year-old pulled out the machete and attacked.

Leuchtner fled on a bicycle after attacking the employee, authorities said.

He was apprehended nearby and arrested by deputies of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

The machete used in the attack was discovered in the Walmart parking lot and placed into evidence, the report noted.

Leuchtner was placed in the Elkhart County Jail, and the employee was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the report.
