INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — THE DEAL: Health insurer WellPoint Inc. said Monday it will spend about $4.46 billion to acquire Medicaid coverage provider Amerigroup Corp.

THE PARTICULARS: WellPoint, the nation’s second-largest insurer, will spend $92 per share in cash for Amerigroup Corp., which runs Medicaid coverage in 13 states, including Texas, Florida, New York and New Jersey.
