It might take many high school stars some time to adjust to the college game. Not Houck, who is fine as a key reserve for the Blue Jays.
The 5-feet-4 midfielder, an honorable mention All-American in high school, has made the transition to the collegiate level.
Houck played in 17 games, including one start, as a freshman, scoring seven goals and adding an assist.
This year, she has made more of an impact, tallying seven goals and three assists through nine games. Houck has also snagged 16 groundballs, third on the Blue Jays.
With Houck?s help, Hopkins is off to an 8-1 start, and was ranked second in the nation before No. 7 Maryland broke the Blue Jays? eight-game unbeaten streak on Sunday at Homewood Field.
In that contest, Houck came off the bench to score one goal and had an assist on another, while picking up five groundballs and two draw controls.
