House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) warned Biden administration officials to expect subpoenas if they don’t cooperate with earlier requests for testimony and documents.
Jordan’s letters request information regarding some of the House Republicans’ top investigative priorities. He sent them last year but was told to renew his request if the GOP took control of the House.

“Accordingly, for the final time, we reiterate our outstanding requests … and ask that you provide this material immediately. The Committee is prepared to resort to compulsory process, if necessary, to obtain this material,” Jordan wrote in the letters sent Tuesday.
Included in his list are Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Christopher Wray, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Director Steven Dettelbach, and Drug Enforcement Administrator Anne Milgram.
Jordan outlined four previous requests he sent between Oct. 11 and Nov. 18, writing, “This stonewalling must stop.”
White House chief of staff Ron Klain also got a letter, but his doesn’t specify if this is the final time he will be asked to comply voluntarily.
Jordan is expected to lead the subcommittee on government “weaponization,” where he will scrutinize the politics of the Justice Department, FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security. These letters indicate the possible scope of the Church-style committee into the alleged politicization of the agencies.

Republican leaders threatened to impeach Mayorkas over his handling of the southern border, and if the conference agrees to pursue it, Jordan will take the lead since the Judiciary Committee deals with matters of law enforcement and is responsible for considering impeachment charges against a sitting president.
He’s also going after President Joe Biden for apparently mishandling classified documents from his time as vice president under President Barack Obama. Biden and the Republicans have gone back and forth with allegations of hypocrisy since former President Donald Trump is also under investigation for keeping classified documents.
