Jeb Bush has fallen to fifth place in his home state, according to a poll of Florida voters that placed outsider candidates far ahead of the former two-term governor.
The Opinion Savvy poll found just 4.8 percent of voters thought Bush won the GOP debate Tuesday, while 33.8 percent of respondents handed the victory to Sen. Marco Rubio, also a Florida politician.
On the flip side, 22.2 percent of Florida Republicans thought Bush “performed the worst” at the debate. Only Ohio Gov. John Kasich was rated the night’s loser more frequently than Bush.
The numbers come as Bush attempts to breathe new life into a stalling candidacy with his “Jeb can fix it” campaign, aimed at relieving fears that he has already lost his chance to secure the nomination.
Donald Trump held the lead in the Florida primary poll, trailed closely by Ben Carson. Rubio and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz also bested Bush in the survey.
Of the 762 Republicans polled, not a single respondent said they would vote for Sen. Lindsey Graham if the primary were held today. One respondent said he would select Rick Santorum.
