FBI creates ChildID iPhone app

If your child goes missing, you want to be able to show authorities current photos quickly, provide information such as the child’s height and weight and get guidance about what to do. Now, thanks to the FBI, there’s an app for that.

The FBI has launched a free iPhone application called Child ID. Parents can store photos and physical identifiers about their children in the application, so it’s easily accessible if needed. The app also lets parents e-mail that information to authorities.

The app includes child-safety tips and guidance on what to do during the first hours after a child goes missing.

The tool is only available at iTunes app store, but the FBI says it plans to expand the application to other mobile devices.
