Elon Musk ‘supposedly’ has COVID-19 for second time

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he has caught COVID-19 again but is almost symptom-free.

Musk tweeted Monday morning that he had tested positive for COVID-19 amid speculation about a Musk-funded social network.

“Covid-19 is the virus of Theseus,” Musk tweeted. “How many gene changes before it’s not Covid-19 anymore? I supposedly have it again (sigh), but almost no symptoms.”

Theseus references the founder and king of Athens in Greek mythology, most notably the killing of the Minotaur in the Labyrinth. Musk’s comments appear to be about the BA.2 COVID-19 variant, which the World Health Organization declared a sublineage of omicron and a “variant of concern.”

ELON MUSK CONTINUES TO TEASE A NEW SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM TO REPLACE TWITTER

Musk tested positive for COVID-19 in November 2020. While the technology CEO initially said he would not get vaccinated in September 2020, he reversed his position later. He declined to seek a vaccine in April 2021, saying in a reply that he did not need one due to already being infected.

While Musk said he supports people getting vaccinated, he opposes vaccine mandates. “To be clear, I do support vaccines in general & covid vaccines specifically,” Musk tweeted a year ago. “The science is unequivocal.”

Musk inspired a conversation online on Saturday when he posted a poll asking if Twitter facilitated free speech. He later asked, “Is a new platform needed?” This led many of his fans to believe that Musk may be considering his own social network. However, Musk has not confirmed such a gesture and has merely sparked speculation about future projects.
