President-elect Trump on Thursday claimed he has made some progress in his effort to keep an Indiana-based manufacturer of air conditioners from moving to Mexico.
Carrier of Indiana said it plans to move to Mexico by 2019, which will see about 1,400 jobs move away. But Trump said during the campaign he would fight to keep the company in the U.S., and on Thanksgiving Day, he said he was still at it.
“I am working hard, even on Thanksgiving, trying to get Carrier A.C. Company to stay in the U.S. (Indiana). MAKING PROGRESS — Will know soon!” Trump tweeted on Thursday.

Trump threatened during the campaign that he would impose tariffs on exports from the company if it decides to go. Trump has made similar threats to other companies thinking of leaving the U.S.
The company confirmed it has had “discussions” with the Trump administration, but said it had nothing to announce as of Thursday.
