‘Let’s go Brandon’: Loudoun County father famous for school board rant announces bid for Congress

A Virginia parent who went viral last year over an impassioned speech he made to the Loudoun County school board announced a run for Congress on cable news Wednesday.

Brandon Michon announced on Fox News’s Tucker Carlson Tonight that he will compete this year to represent Virginia’s 10th Congressional District.

“We’re going to let parents have their voice back,” Michon said. “I’m so happy to be jumping in this race, so happy to represent so many people who may not have the same opportunity or be in a position to speak up. We just want to raise the bar.”

Michon said he will be happy to hear “Let’s go Brandon” along his campaign trail. The widely circulated phrase has been deemed as code for “F*** Joe Biden.”

In January 2021, a gubernatorial election year in Virginia in which education took center stage, Michon became a viral sensation after he addressed a Loudoun County school board meeting and railed against school closures during the coronavirus pandemic. He told members they “should all be fired from their day jobs” because they were “more inefficient than the DMV.”

“The garbage workers who pick up my freaking trash risk their lives every day more than anyone in this school system. Figure it out,” Michon said. “It’s not a high bar.”

At the time, Fox News reported that Michon was a father of two children, ages 5 and 8.

According to Michon’s LinkedIn profile, he is managing director of FBRE Capital and graduated from Brigham Young University.
