Prayer, not violence: Teen prayer circle goes mega-viral [VIDEO]

While college students across the country have participated in protests that have divided the country along political, racial, and socio-economic lines, a group of  Tennessee high school students tried to unity by praying before class.

The video was posted on Facebook on Wednesday with a caption that read, “Can young people praying at school go viral instead of violence?”. In less than three days, it was viewed more than 21 million times, earned 432,000 likes, and was shared 26,000 timed.

Alexandria Morgan, a fellow student at Germantown High School, said on Facebook that the prayer was led by a senior named Corbin, who’s also a youth leader at his church.

“God, we love you, we honor you, we are here for you, God,” Corbin said in the video. “God, we are making a difference, one student at one time, God.”

“It doesn’t matter if we’re Baptist, it doesn’t matter if we’re Catholic… As long as we give your name reverence, give your name glory, God, we do it all for you.”

Corbin finished the video by saying he hopes they can continue to pray together every Wednesday morning in front of the school.

Germantown High School isn’t the only school in Memphis seeing teens gather voluntarily to pray before school. Dozens of students at Melrose High gathered in late August at 6:45 am to pray before the school day began.

On October 14th, students from across the world are encouraged to meet at the gates of their school and pray.
