Ron Paul may be the founding father of the libertarian revolution that has swept the post-Bush Republican Party, but he’s not a big fan of one his successors.
On Sunday, the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity published an article bashing Gary Johnson and Bill Weld for all their non-libertarian positions on everything from Supreme Court nominees to the Patriot Act.
Ron Paul Institute senior fellow Adam Dick wrote the article, and had some especially strong words for the vice presidential nominee.
“When I saw Bill Weld get the vice presidential nomination, I knew that was trouble because the guy is not libertarian,” Dick said.
Weld was a big supporter of gun control, the Patriot Act, the Iraq War, and liberal Supreme Court justices. Johnson has also been advocating more left-wing policies lately, proposing a carbon tax to lower emissions, rejecting religious liberty for employers, and endorsing mandatory vaccination.
