For those looking to witness that history, the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore will hold a viewing of the inauguration on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. at the Central Library and at most neighborhood branches. The inauguration viewing at the Central Library will be simulcast on a 10-foot-by-10-foot screen in the Main Hall.

“The Pratt Library has always shown history making events on television screens on display at the Central Library Main Hall and at our branches,” said Carla Hayden, chief executive officer of the Enoch Pratt Free Library. “From man landing on the moon to the aftermath of [the terrorist attacks of] September 11, the Pratt has the responsibility to simulcast these important events to continue our commitment as the information destination of Baltimore.”

About 60 students from St. Ignatius School in Baltimore are expected to attend the viewing at the Central Library, said library spokesman Roswell Encina.

“We’re expecting a lot of people,” Encina said. “Anyone who’s trying to watch the ceremony can come in and join the event.”

The Pratt Library Web site has also developed a section dedicated to the new president. It has Web sites and resources available showing Barack Obama’s path to the presidency in recommended books, images and up-to-the-minute news links.
