Trump, Obama appear to agree on congressional term limits

President Obama on Monday appeared to agree with a proposal by President-elect Donald Trump to impose term limits on members of Congress.

“I think term limits are a really useful thing,” Obama told reporters for his first post-election press conference at the White House.

Trump has vowed to push for congressional term limits once his administration takes over in January.

“We’re going to look into that because a lot of people are talking about term limits,” the incoming Republican president told law enforcement officers during the GOP primary. “I hear it from more and more people — and we’re going to take a very serious look at that.”

Obama also said the Democratic Party should welcome new leadership as it looks to rebuild itself in the wake of devastating election defeat last Tuesday.
