92-year-old woman found slain in P.G.

Prince George’s County police are investigating the homicide of a 92-year-old woman in Forestville.

Police said they received a call to check on the welfare of an elderly woman at a home on the 2900 block of East Avenue at about 8:30 Monday night.

Police found 92-year-old Thelma Elaine Steele dead inside the home. Police said she had suffered trauma to the body, but would not elaborate.

Police have no suspects or motives at this time, and the investigation continues.

Haynesworth attorney says cash offered for testimony

A security guard at the W Hotel in Washington says he was offered $50,000 to testify against former Washington Redskin Albert Haynesworth in a sex abuse case, according to the NFL player’s attorney.

Haynesworth is scheduled to go to trial next week on a misdemeanor sex abuse charge. The 350-pound lineman is accused of touching a waitress’ breast in February.

The security guard, Ramon Davis, said in affidavit that the waitress and another man approached her in April with the offer.

Police: Murder suspect posed as utility worker in robbery

One of the men accused of posing as a Pepco worker in the slaying of a Bowie laundromat owner this summer is now charged with pretending to be a utility worker to rob a Glen Burnie woman.

Craig S. Brooks, 49, is charged in the July shooting death of 44-year-old David W. Williams after Prince George’s County police said Brooks and another man posed as Pepco workers to gain entrance to the victim’s home.

This week, police in Anne Arundel County linked Brooks to a similar robbery that happened on May 3.

In that case, a 48-year-old woman reported that a man knocked on the door of her home, saying he was a utility worker and checking a potential gas leak, police said.

The woman let him inside, where he robbed her at gunpoint.
