Bureaucrats at the Veterans Affairs are working hard … to keep stonewalling investigations into the slovenly, corrupt, and criminal performance of it responsibilities. As Mark Flatten of the Washington Examiner reports:
The news of VA malfeasance has become almost routine. They pretended to be doing their jobs and paid themselves bonuses for outstanding performance and we all understand that now. It was wrong to do, certainly, but it was done well enough that it worked for a long time. So there was a certain misplaced competence about it.
It is a little sad, however, that these people can’t even spike an office in defense of their own turf when their own hides may be at stake. Though it could be that they feel, understandably, that they have nothing to fear from Congress or anybody else.
