A 7-year-old boy was found dead Monday morning in the water near a pier close to his home in Dundalk, about 12 hours after he was out riding his silver scooter around his neighborhood, police said.
Edward D. Blue, of the 2000 block of Paulette Road, was found at about 7:30 a.m. near his apartment complex, police said. Police divers and at least one helicopter combed the area Sunday night after the boy was reported missing and had resumed at dawn Monday.
“It appears that it may be an accident,” said Baltimore County police Cpl. Mike Hill, but he said investigators are waiting for autopsy results and are looking into the incident “to make sure that it isn?t foul play.”
The neighborhood is filled with families and their young children, some of whom zip around on scooters like the one Blue was riding, said Norma Dunham, who said she?s lived in a row house down the street from the complex for the past 50 years.
Blue was reported missing shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday after he didn?t come home when it got dark. A silver scooter was found that night on the pier near where Blue was found the next morning, police said.
