Bombay Club serving state dinner menu

Sure, the Salahis and that other guy managed to sneak into the state dinner with India in November, but many others from the area would have liked to have gone but didn’t dare crash the gates.

That’s exactly why local restaurateur Ashok Bajaj decided to re-create the menu for one day in January at his restaurant, the Bombay Club.

“They can’t invite everybody,” Bajaj told Yeas & Nays. “But they can now come to the Bombay Club.”

On Jan. 21, the day after the president’s State of the Union address, the restaurant will serve its interpretation of the menu, paired with the same wines served at the White House.

“I think it will be better than what they served, actually,” Bajaj boasted.

The Bombay Club’s chef Nilesh Singhvi will step in for Marcus Samuelsson, who was guest chef for the November dinner, and will be aided by chefs from Rasika and The Oval Room.

The dinner will cost $65, with an additional $25 for the wine. A limited number of seats are available.
