A near majority of Americans and vast swaths of the world community agree with Republican presidential front runner Donald Trump that immigrants take the jobs and services of native citizens.
Ipsos Public Affairs just released a survey on “Trump’s America First” campaign and the global impact of anti-immigrant rhetoric and found that the U.S. falls above world averages on the questions of the harmful impact of immigrants on jobs and services.

For Americans, 49 percent “believe that immigrants take jobs away,” and “62 percent think the same about social services,” said Ipsos.
Globally, 41 percent believe that “immigrants take jobs away from real citizens of given country.”

Also globally, 49 percent believe that “immigrants take social services away from real citizens of given country,” said Ipsos.

Politically in the United States, there is an expected divide between Democrats and Republicans on the issues demonstrated in the differences between supporters of Trump and Hillary Rodham Clinton over the issue of robbing jobs. Some 60 percent of Trump supporters, and just 35 percent of Clinton supporters, believe immigrants take the jobs of native Americans.
