An e-mail that slain University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Love sent former boyfriend George Huguely — who has been charged with her murder — refers to a fight the two had shortly before Love’s death, according to newly released police documents.
Police pulled the e-mail from Love’s computer, which they found in a trash bin near Love’s Charlottesville apartment — where Huguely hid it the night she was killed.
Information pertaining to the e-mails was released in two affidavits requesting search warrants of Love’s and Huguely’s computers. But the text of the e-mails, including the names of witnesses, was redacted in accordance with a sealing order requested by prosecutor Dave Chapman.
Chapman would not say why he requested the sealing order.
Police found the 22-year-old Love beaten to death in her Charlottesville apartment May 3. Huguely, 22, admitted he fought with Love the night she died and shook her while her head hit the wall, according to police documents. Huguely also told police he saw blood dripping from Love’s nose before he pushed her onto her bed, stole her computer and left.
Huguely is being held in Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail as he awaits his Oct. 7 trial date. Chapman has not said whether he will pursue capital murder chargers.
