Laurel-based InterAction laboratories developed an innovative “Leg Joystick” that simulates walking and running in military-grade indoor virtual-combat simulators.
The U.S. Military will use InterAction?s new Power Squad Leg Joysticks with Raydon-Corp.?s virtual warrior program to train soldiers.
“The PowerSquad Leg Joystick adds realism and physical intensity to patrolling, clearing buildings, fighting, walking and running within the virtual combat environment,” said Greg Merril, chief executive of InterAction Labs.
Soldiers? muscle contractions are picked up by sensors in the joysticks, and immediately their movements are simulated in the training program. Intensity levels in the simulation mean participants can burn 350 calories per hour.
