John Kasich hires talent agent after leaving the governor’s mansion

Former Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich has hired a talent agent.

Kasich, who has hinted at mounting a primary challenge against President Trump or launching an independent bid for the White House in 2020, hired California-based United Talent Agency to represent him, the firm announced Monday.

“I’m excited to work with UTA to keep my voice active across the world and share my experiences and observations to help improve the lives of others,” Kasich said in a statement.

Multiple outlets reported Monday Kasich, who has run for president twice before, could sign with CNN or MSNBC instead of Fox News. The two-term governor previously hosted his “Heartland with John Kasich” show on Fox from 2001 to 2007 after serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Kasich, a vocal critic of Trump, told the Cleveland Plain Dealer last month he didn’t think he could topple the incumbent president in a primary contest.

“I don’t get into things that I don’t think I can win,” Kasich said. “And I think right now, today, inside the Republican Party, I can’t beat [Trump] in a primary.”

But spokesman Chris Schrimpf told CNBC Monday “all options are still on the table.”

“Any announcement about a TV contract would have no bearing on his 2020 intentions,” Schrimpf wrote in an email.
