Is RNC polling Michigan convention delegates?

Someone is paying for calls to Michigan Republican Convention delegates asking who they will vote for this weekend, but it is unclear who is paying for the calls.

A Michigan Republican Convention delegate has provided The Washington Examiner audio of a call purportedly from a national call center in Nevada and paid for by the Republican National Committee.

The caller first asks who the respondent is planning to vote for to attend the Republican National Convention in August, “delegates committed to Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, or uncommitted?”

The caller then asks who the respondent will be voting for in the races for National Committeemen and Committeewomen. After these questions, the respondent asked: “And you said this call is from the Republican National Committee?”

Caller: “Yes sir. I am calling on behalf of the Republican National Committee sir.”
Respondent: “So the Republican National Committee paid for this call?”
Caller: “Yes.”
Respondent: “Where are you calling from right now?”
Caller: “Right now I am calling from a national calling center, sir, in Nevada.”
Respondent: “But you are calling on behalf of the Republican National Committee?”
Caller: “Yes I am.”

The Republican National Committee has denied paying for any such calls.

The incident comes after Ron Paul recently won:

21 of 24 delegates at the Maine Republican Convention

22 of 25 delegates at the Nevada Republican Convention

more than half of the delegates at the Massachusetts Republican Convention.
