House 2012ers unite on latest CR

There are 242 members of the House Republican Caucus. Only 6 of them (2.4%) voted against yesterday’s bill that cut another $12 billion from non-defense discretionary spending, fund U.S. troops through the end of fiscal year 2011, and fund the rest of government through April 15.

There are also just GOP House members who are leaning toward running for president in 2012: Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Ron Paul (R-TX). And both of them were among the six who voted no. Paul’s office issued statement explaining his votes, but Bachmann did:

I voted against today’s CR because it failed to defund ObamaCare. This current mess has occurred because House Democrats failed to propose a Fiscal Year 2011 budget. However, they did bury more than $105 billion in funding in their ObamaCare legislation. I had previously pledged to reject any CR which does not defund that spending. Unfortunately, today’s CR does nothing to defund ObamaCare and that is why I voted ‘no’

We bet that this will not be the last time Bachmann and Paul votes stand out from their caucus.
