Steve King: ‘Hispanics and the blacks’ will fight before white people become majority-minority

Iowa Rep. Steve King followed up his controversial tweet about increasing the size of the United States with “somebody else’s babies” by predicting “Hispanics and the blacks will be fighting each other” before white people become a majority-minority in the U.S.

King, a Republican, said on local Iowa radio on Tuesday that he doesn’t think white people will ever become a majority-minority ethnicity in the United States. He started off by criticizing Univision anchor Jorge Ramos for even proposing the idea.

“Jorge Ramos’ stock in trade is identifying and trying to drive wedges between race,” King said, per CNN. “Race and ethnicity, I should say to be more correct. When you start accentuating the differences, then you start ending up with people that are at each other’s throats.”

“And he’s adding up Hispanics and blacks into what he predicts will be in greater number than whites in America. I will predict that Hispanics and the blacks will be fighting each other before that happens.”

King had refused to back away from his controversial statement that Western civilization can’t be built with “somebody else’s babies,” saying he meant cultural values have to be consistent instead of race.

King has been under fire for the comments, with many Democrats calling them racist. King has long been a lightning rod for controversial comments, such as when he said Latino immigrants had “calves the size of cantaloupes” due to all the drugs they were smuggling over the border.
