Multiple arrests made during Antifa protest of ‘Blue Lives Matter’ rally: Reports

Multiple people were arrested in Philadelphia on Saturday when anti-fascist groups gathered to protest a “Blue Lives Matter” rally, according to reports.

The specific number of people arrested remains unknown, according to a CBS affiliate in Philadelphia. However, Antifa groups that attended the protest took to social media to request assistance with bail.

Occupy ICE PHL said on Twitter that at least 11 arrests occurred while anti-fascists demonstrated against the “Blue Lives Matter” event.

Another group, Philly Socialists, said on Facebook “some support people” were arrested and “brutalized by police.”

The “Blue Lives Matter March” was organized by a local group and started Saturday morning in Philadelphia’s City Center, CBS reported.

But members of at least four Antifa groups sought to serve as a counterprotest to oppose police brutality, stop-and-frisk policies, and mass incarceration.

In videos posted to social media by Antifa groups, chants of “No justice, no peace” can be heard, as well as “no racist police.”
