Chevy Chase murder suspect strangled with shoe string

A state mental patient charged with killing a fellow patient told Maryland police that he kissed the victim, then put a string around her neck and pulled it tight, court documents said.

Documents released Monday state that El Soundani El-Wahhabi, 46, also known as Saladin Taylor, told police that he and Susan Sachs, 45, struggled until she stopped breathing.

Maryland State Police said Sachs was found face down in her bed with a shoe lace around her neck.

Sachs and El-Wahhabi were both committed after murder charges. Sachs was charged with fatally stabbing a Chevy Chase psychiatric social worker in 2004. El-Wahhabi was committed in 1995 after he was accused of killing a woman and leaving a piece of his tongue at the crime scene, according to the Baltimore Sun.
