Vice President Joe Biden continued his guessing game with the media on Tuesday, making an apparent joke for the second day in a row about how he will be running for president in 2020.

“I’m announcing,” Biden told reporters with a smile while entering the House Democratic caucus meeting at the Capitol, pointing to the room. “I’m going to announce right now.”

Biden did not respond initially to a follow-up on whether he was being serious with the comment. However, on his way on out of the meeting, reporters pressed him for more clarity about his comments.

“I don’t make decisions that far in advance. It’s never worked for me,” said the vice president, who was also asked by reporters to help them understand his initial remarks.

“Oh you don’t want to understand it. I don’t even understand it,” Biden said before being asked if he was going to be the voice of the party under the Trump administration. “I’m going to work for the party,” he said.

The remarks come a day after he told reporters he was going to run in 2020. Soon after, he clarified, telling them he was not committing to any plans in four years.

“I’m not committing not to run. I’m not committed to anything,” Biden said. “I learned a long time ago, fate has a strange way of intervening.”
