Something you probably never wanted to think about: New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and the Rev. Al Sharpton starring in “50 Shades of Grey.”
The New York State Republican Party has foisted this scarring image on the world, in a mock ad that paints De Blasio as the ugliest Anastasia Steele ever, dominated by his Christian Grey, Al Sharpton.
De Blasio is “tied up” by his tardiness, “dominated” by his duties, and “handcuffed” by his “poor management of the NYPD,” according to the poster.
“The parallels between the heroine of America’s hottest movie and New York’s Mayor are striking: both have completely ceded control over their situation to outside forces, and the results are difficult to watch,” a State GOP spokesperson told the New York Observer.
Sharpton’s friends are not amused.
“The New York State Republican Party owes Rev. Al Sharpton and communities of color, particularly the African-American community, the LGBTQ community and the mayor an apology, and they need to immediately sever ties with whoever is responsible for this junk,” said a director from Sharpton’s National Action Network.
