Pence: Firing Comey was the ‘right decision’

Vice President Mike Pence praised President Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director James Comey.

“Right decision, right time,” Pence told reporters Wednesday morning as he walked through the U.S. Senate.

Pence added that Trump’s decision “was based solely and exclusively on his commitment to the best interests of the American people, and to ensuring that the FBI has the trust and confidence of the people of this nation.”

Pence was in the Capitol to serve as a tie-breaking vote on a measure to reverse an Obama-era regulation to control methane emissions on public lands. But Pence was not needed. Republicans failed to come up with 50 GOP votes, and the measure failed.
