Sen. Lindsey Graham says AG William Barr is willing to testify before Senate

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham said Monday Attorney General William Barr told him that he would be willing to testify about special counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

“I told him I’d like him to come before the committee, he said he’d be glad to come, just give him some time to figure out, you know, as soon as possible, but thoroughly vet the report and make sure we don’t compromise anybody’s security,” Graham, a South Carolina Republican, told reporters Monday afternoon.

Graham said that details would have to be worked out between Barr and Mueller about what information Barr could discuss publicly before the Senate Judiciary Committee, given the sensitive nature of the investigation. The senator said Barr could take his time and that he might wait to testify until after the public version of Mueller’s report is released.

“We’re going to do it on Mr. Barr’s reasonable schedule. He needs, I think, some reasonable period of time to go through it, working with Mr. Mueller,” Graham said.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., has also called on Barr to testify before Congress. Nadler has reportedly contacted the Justice Department to set a date for the attorney general to testify.

On Sunday Barr released a four-page summary of Mueller’s 22-month investigation, which found that President Trump did not collude or conspire with Russia.
