Washington Examiner commentator Tiana Lowe said the timeline of President Joe Biden‘s document haul is “shady,” but it is nothing new for Washington, D.C.
“It just reeks of classic D.C. corruption, right? This is a very ordinary D.C. story and it’s been, what, eight years since the Hillary classified documents thing?” Lowe said on the Fox Business show Cavuto: Coast to Coast.

“So at this point, it feels old and stale and gross, I think, to just the casual observer of politics,” she added.
The existence of classified documents in Biden’s private office was kept under wraps for more than 60 days through the midterm elections until they were leaked by the media. After the original documents were uncovered on Nov. 2, 2022, more has been revealed as the president’s personal lawyers combed through his office and his private residence in Wilmington, Delaware.
Lowe questioned the White House’s motives as press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made definitive statements during press briefings defending Biden and attempting to distance his documents scandal from that of former President Donald Trump.
“In a way, she’s almost a scapegoat for it … She goes out on the podium and asserts that there will be no more documents, none. And then what happens a couple days later? They find more classified documents that Biden had,” Lowe said.
“And remember, not to compare apples and oranges, but unlike Donald Trump, Joe Biden, as the vice president, did not have the power to declassify these documents,” she added.
Lowe explained that the issue isn’t whether Biden will be charged or if the documents between the presidents were of similar magnitude, but the motive behind the timeline.
It doesn’t bode well for Democrats’ chances of indicting Trump for the documents found at Mar-a-Lago last August during an FBI raid, she said.
“Let’s be clear, the document scandal was probably the closest thing that Democrats hoping that they could you know, prosecute Trump’s way out of the Oval Office, that was probably the closest chance they really had, right?” she asked.
“The January 6th stuff, while it’s politically egregious, the criminal charges are vague in terms of nabbing a conviction. The documents thing could have actually happened. But now, it’s probably not going to happen,” Lowe said.
The case is even more suspicious because when the Biden team contacted the National Archives, the Department of Justice did not step in, she said. Instead, they allowed the personal attorneys to continue searching, potentially without the proper security clearances to do so.
“And who runs the DOJ nominally? it is Biden’s DOJ,” Lowe said, even if the president claims Attorney General Merrick Garland and his team are being transparent.
“It does look shady, and it also really undercuts one of the strongest arguments against Trump, not just politically in terms of corruption, but also practically, right? There’s no way that Trump’s going to be charged now, at least to the extent that he would have been before,” Lowe said.
Biden has now largely taken responsibility for the mishandling of the documents, but at first claimed he was “surprised” by the discovery.

“The best thing Biden can probably do at this point is feign ignorance, right? I mean, the man just turned 80 years old, he could claim he’s having a senior moment, right?” Lowe joked.
“But the problem is that his comms team is clearly not on board with this,” she added.
