Swelled heads
These political conventions most certainly give Barack Obama and John McCain a big head: All the attention, the adoration, all the fans.
But those big heads won’t find a home at one place: Mt. Rushmore. In between the conventions, Yeas & Nays stopped by South Dakota’s claim to fame and bumped into Nick Clifford, the last surviving carver of Mt. Rushmore. Do you think we should add another president on the mountain? “Absolutely not!” shot the 87 year old. What about Obama? “No.” McCain? “No and no! First, of all, there isn’t any more room. Second of all, no on else is worthy of being up there!” Bill Groethe, an 85 year old photographer who shot Rushmore’s construction when he was 17, agreed. “I can’t think of anyone worthy of being up there, but I can definitely think of plenty not worhty of it,” he said.
