1,500 – Number of Georgetown Cupcakes sent to the headquarters and other offices of the Federal Communications Commission for lobbying purposes by AT&T as part of “operation cupcake,” according to a profile in the New York Times on AT&T’s Chief Lobbyist James W. Ciccone. The cupcakes were doled out during last December’s debate on how Internet service providers should manage their traffic, at the same time AT&T was trying to court T-Mobile for a merger. The Georgetown Dish pointed out that the cupcakes alone cost the telecommunications company more than $3,700.
