D.C. Mayor Vince Gray will soon be Dr. Vince Grayin academic circles after he receives an honorary doctorate in “humane letters” from Strayer University.
Gray will receive the degree after giving the school’s commencement speech on Saturday.
“I am honored and humbled to accept an honorary doctoral degree from Strayer University, an institution that has long nurtured the educational development of our city’s workforce,” Gray said in a statement from Strayer. “As mayor, I have dedicated myself to creating a vibrant and innovative community, and education stands at the heart of my personal mission and vision for ‘One City.’ An educated populace creates the engine that fuels growth in jobs creation, ideas and passion for civic service – all essential ingredients for a strong city.”
