Obama: Trump is ‘engaging and gregarious’

President Obama won’t admit whether he likes President-elect Trump, but says he has enjoyed their conversations.

“You know, he is somebody who I think is very engaging and gregarious,” Obama said in an interview that aired Sunday on ABC News’ “This Week” when asked how Trump has impressed him.

But Obama dodged a question about whether he likes Trump, instead saying the president-elect is “not lacking in confidence.”

“Some say that about you too,” “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos pointed out.

Obama responded that it’s a “prerequisite” for the position because you have to have “enough craziness to think that you can do the job.”

The relationship between Obama and his successor has at times been frayed.

Trump has often lashed out at Obama on Twitter, once accusing him of making “inflammatory” statements that threatened to derail a smooth transition.

During the presidential campaign, Obama accused Trump of being “unfit” for the White House and warned that all progress made during his presidency would disappear if the billionaire was elected.

Obama said he no longer believes the latter because Republicans are starting to realize that “may not be what the American people, including even Trump voters, are looking for.”
