One body has been found in the search for a plane containing eight passengers that crashed off the coast of North Carolina.
The Coast Guard confirmed during a Monday evening press conference that crews located and identified one of eight passengers while searching the area where a single aircraft reportedly went down 4 miles east of Drum Inlet on Sunday.

Carteret County Sheriff Asa Buck said there was no indication that anybody survived the crash, and officials are working to piece together what happened, according to a local Fox affiliate.
“We’re also still at this time in the process … locating the main part of the plane,” Buck said.
Authorities did not release any additional details about the person whose body was found or the other seven passengers they believe were on board the aircraft, but the East Carolina Community Emergency Response Team reported that four youths, two adults, and the pilot were on board.
“They had a youth hunt in Hyde County and were heading back to Stacy when something caused their plane to divert off course over the Pamlico Sound,” East Carolina CERT wrote on Facebook.

The Coast Guard said the aircraft was seen “behaving erratically on radar and then disappeared from the radar screen,” according to a press release.
