A Coast Guard officer who allegedly gathered weapons to “murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country” was indicted Wednesday on drug and gun possession charges.
Lt. Christopher Hasson, whose detention memo earlier this month claimed he was a domestic terrorist who supported a “white homeland,” was charged with unlawful possession of two improperly registered silencers, possession of firearms by a drug addict and unlawful user, and for possession of a controlled substance.
In total, the indictment claimed Hasson had 17 guns in his possession. He previously faced only one felony firearms charge and one misdemeanor drug charge.
“We continue to gather evidence, as well as review evidence already obtained as part of this ongoing investigation,” U.S. Attorney Robert K. Hur said in a statement.
Hasson was arrested earlier this month, and a detention memo filed last week claims he drafted a list of targets in an Excel spreadsheet last month that included lawmakers and media figures including “pelosi,” a likely reference to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi; “sen kaine,” a likely reference to Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va.; and “poca warren,” a likely reference to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.; among others. Other people on the list appear to reference MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, MSNBC’s Ari Melber, and CNN’s Don Lemon, among others.
He also identified as a “white nationalist” and backed a “white homeland,” according to court documents, and argued “you can make change with a little focused violence.”
An arraignment hearing date has not yet been scheduled. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years for the gun charges, and up to one year for the drug charge.
