EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. (AP) — Police on eastern Long Island say two people have been arrested on charges they sent threats to an East Hampton synagogue.

Police say the suspects posed as four acquaintances in the emails — possibly to get the other people in trouble.

East Hampton Village Police Chief Gerard Larsen Jr. says the man and woman were arrested Thursday night at Kennedy Airport after arriving from Turkey.

Larsen says 44-year-old Asli Dincer and her 31-year-old ex-husband Melih Dincer were each held on $50,000 bail at their arraignment Friday in East Hampton town court.

Charges include making a terrorist threat, falsely reporting an incident, menacing and conspiracy.

Their attorney did not immediately return a telephone message for comment.

Police say the threats of violence were sent to the Jewish Center of The Hamptons.
