The State Department issued an apology late Wednesday after tweeting a message to American tourists traveling overseas that it said “came off negatively.”
“Not a ’10’ in the US? Then not a 10 overseas. Beware of being lured into buying expensive drinks or worse – being robbed #springbreakingbadly,” the agency tweeted.

The message, which seems to tell Americans don’t be fooled by people offering services in foreign countries, came off negatively.
The department deleted the tweet and issued three apologies in response to the confusion.
Some have been offended by our earlier tweet and we apologize that it came off negatively (1/2)
