No one knows what Democrats mean when they talk about “border security,” but thank God White House adviser Stephen Miller was on TV to call it what it is: B.S.
Democrats regularly make it clear what they believe: Anyone who shows up at the southern border has a right to enter. But because that’s not a popular concept, they instead cover up by pretending to advocate for “border security.” It’s a deceit, and Miller laid it bare on Thursday night in an exchange on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. Every journalist in Washington should watch it.
Discussing how the White House intended to get $5 billion in funding for President Trump’s “artistically designed steel slats” as part of a government funding bill, Blitzer regurgitated the talking point that, “Democrats all say they support border security.”
Miller replied, “Like what? With all due respect, Wolf, they voted against Kate’s Law, they voted against ending sanctuary cities, they voted against deporting MS-13 gang members, they voted against deporting violent criminals, they voted time and time against a physical border wall to stop illegal entry. Where is the evidence that they keep supporting that they’re for border security?”
Blitzer then thoughtfully said, “Wow, all of that is true, and I hadn’t thought of it that way.”
I’m kidding. He said, “Stephen, I want to move on.”

By the way, while watching, I suspected Miller might have exaggerated at least the parts about Democrats voting against ending sanctuary cities and deporting MS-13 members. Then I looked it up. Both claims are true.
Democrats are never put in the difficult position of explaining their position on immigration. When the 7,000-people caravan of migrants made it’s way to the border, Democrats and the media dismissed Trump’s warnings about it as “fearmongering.”
OK, but if there’s nothing to be concerned about, can Democrats tell us how many of those people should have been allowed into the country? Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., said Thursday on CNN that any asylum seeker coming to the U.S. border should be permitted entry.
“God,” he said. “Why should they have to wait on the other side of the border when they could be victimized again? … You know what we’re going to have there? We’re going to have illness. Right, you’re going to have more murder, more rape, more harm coming to people that are fleeing.”
That sure sounds like a lot of murder, raping, and disease going on in Mexico!
What does “border security” mean if Democrats see nothing wrong with an endless train of foreigners coming into the country?
It means nothing. Democrats know that, and it takes Miller to even mention this fact on the air because the media let them get away with it.
